Do you have professional skills, which you can share with a local community organisation? Are you interested to learning how your skills can make a positive impact ? Find out how at our annual event - the Boroondara Volunteer Skills Meet!

During this event you will:

  • learn about skilled volunteer projects and roles currently on offer - including Board and Committee member roles
  • hear about the positive impact skilled volunteers can make
  • meet the local community organisations that align with your passions and interests.
  • explore a diverse range of sectors to volunteer in including the environment, the aged, education, children and health.

Event Overview

Part 1: Professional development with Vickie Burkinshaw

Vickie Burkinshaw is the Founder and Lead Facilitator of Purple Pyjamas, a business helping business and individuals facilitate change. In this session:

  • hone in on your skills and interests through a professional development activity.
  • develop your own vision for your volunteering journey

Part 2: Skilled volunteer role pitches

Hear local community organisations pitch their skilled volunteer opportunities. In each 60 second pitch, learn about:

  • organisations offering skilled roles and projects near you
  • the different types of organisations operating in and around Boroondara.

These range from board and committee member roles to writing/editing, marketing, finance, short term projects and many more! Have a pen and paper handy to write down those of interest.

Part 3: Networking

Participants will be invited to join breakout sessions where you will have the opportunity:

  • to chat directly with the organisations you wish to learn more about
  • ask specific questions about the skilled volunteer roles on offer
  • join in on discussions.

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC) encourages active participation in the life of the community by promoting, supporting and resourcing volunteering within the City of Boroondara and surrounding areas.

The centre offers information, referral and support services for people who are currently volunteers or who would like to become volunteers, and also community-based organisations that coordinate volunteer programs.

All services offered through the BVRC are free of charge to both volunteers and organisations.
